The Good, The Bad & The WTFugly? : Week 17

The Good, The Bad & The WTFugly? : Week 17

WRITTEN BY: T.I.

Well, the journey is coming to an end, folks. It's the last week of the regular season, and our beloved Tennessee Titans won't be moving on to the NFL playoffs for the second straight season. Before we welcome Jacksonville back to Nissan Stadium, let's revisit Sunday's embarrassment against Houston in this week's edition of 'The Good, The Bad & The WTFugly.'

THE GOOD

THOUSAND YARDS FOR THE KING
Derrick Lamar Henry Jr. has surpassed 1,000 rushing yards once again. Despite playing behind what statistically stands as the worst offensive line in the entire NFL, a line on pace to allow a franchise record number of sacks, he has remarkably achieved this feat once more. We often take this man for granted, and considering he has the league's weakest line, but still produced over 1,000 yards is remarkable in itself.

CHIG IS FINALLY INVOLVED
In recent weeks, we've witnessed our man getting 'Chiggy' with it, hauling in passes from various Titans QBs, including a touchdown from none other than 'Young Peyton Manning' himself, Derrick Henry. While our expectations were high for Chig this season, I'm excited to see him making strides late in the season. It gives me hope for the upcoming 2024 season and beyond.

FOLK AROUND AND FIND OUT
Nick Folk accounted for 100% of our points on Sunday. Even though it was only three, at least it was a sweet fifty yarder, amirite??

DHOP HOPS PAST 1K
With his seven receptions, for 72 yards, Deandre Hopkins surpassed 1,000 yards for the seventh time in his HOF career. Not bad for a guy who most NFL fans, including many Titans fans said was 'washed' and labeled another FA bust for the Two Toned Blue. We've been looking for another 1K receiver since that fateful day we sent the diva to Philly and now we finally have one. Let's hope that the Titans brass keep him in the development plans for Young Billy Jeans.

THE BAD

EVERYTHING IS TERRIBLE
From start to finish, that was one of the most disappointing performances I've witnessed against our division rivals, the Houston Texans. From Will Levis getting injured to us managing only three points on the board, it was utterly embarrassing. I can't remember a Titans game where I felt more disheartened, maybe not since the Bengals playoff game or the Patriots snow game where Brady decimated us. I rarely consider turning off the television during a Titans game, but this time, I came dangerously close to it.

The offensive line is the worst that I've ever seen since I've been watching football, and that's been a really long time. I'm not going to get into specifics, but trust me, we've seen some shit. And this line is just that, shit. The secondary is getting butane flamed day in and out. And when they aren't ending up on opposing teams highlight reels, they're committing game altering penalties costing us dubs.

Seven one-score losses are a tough pill to swallow, and it's disheartening to think about what Henry and Levis could achieve if they weren't constantly fighting behind an ever-evolving wall of swiss cheese. I don't understand how hard it is to find the biggest dudes on the planet and just plug them in to make holes and block, but apparently for the Titans it's the hardest thing to do on the planet. Nuclear physics seems like childs play compared to solving our offensive line struggles.

SACK IT TO ME
The Tennessee Titans' quarterbacks have endured 62 sacks this season, marking the second-highest total in franchise history, only surpassed by the 1994 Oilers, who conceded 65 sacks and ended the year with a 2-14 record. As we approach Sunday's game, the looming question is whether we will surpass this franchise record. One can only hope not or who knows what I'll do.
